STORY SYNOPSIS
WHEN THE MOON WAS TWICE AS BIG is an independent, feature length film, written and directed by Bill Jacobs, and produced by John Killwey and Bill Jacobs.
It's the kind of movie folks wish Hollywood made more often: entertaining and inspiring to adults -- with deep, rich characters, humor and layered story development -- while at the same time accessible and engaging to kids and young adults.
Like FORREST GUMP, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, and THE NATURAL, our feature is very much a modern-day fable:
Following ten-year-old Jack through the summer of 1969, we witness the moments when his dreams are sparked and a course is set toward the life he imagines. Inspired by an extraordinary new friend, his test-pilot father, and history unfolding with humankind’s first steps on the moon, Jack’s passion for astronomy and space exploration ignites within him.
But life-changing events alter Jack’s course.
Forty years later and about to turn fifty, Jack realizes he’s landed far from the life he envisioned at age ten. He now faces a choice: he can continue “going through the motions” of his unfulfilling life -- or he can take one giant leap of faith, and reclaim the dreams of his youth.
